Erling Ellingsen gave us an update about what's up with Funcom's upcoming MMO offering, Age of Conan. Erling actually had a lot to say, not only about the game but about MMOs in general. He kicked things off by stating the importance of single-player experiences.

It looks like Conan's going to get prettified during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Funcom and Eidos will be showing off a version of their Age of Conan MMO at CES that runs on DirectX 10 at the Microsoft booth.

The latest MMORPG from Funcom is built on Robert E. Howard's many short stories revolving around a certain age when Conan has gained the throne and is slowly losing his grasp over the kingdom. Threats loom far and wide across the land, while vengeful gods and goddesses hold a strong grip on people's lives.

The technical beta for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures has already kicked off, but those who weren't lucky enough to be chosen to beta test this MMORPG won't have to worry as Funcom has news for you.

While Gods And Heroes may have taken MMORPG's "Best of Show" at the recent E3 Convention, three other leading gaming websites have other ideas. Preferring the world of Hyboria to that of Imperial Rome, IGN, Gamespot and Gamespy were in agreement as they awarded their ‘Best Game of Show' prizes in the MMO genre to Age of Conan.

It seems that the developers from Funcom have missed a couple of important patch changes in the June 23 patch notes! Thankfully, a certain enterprising forum poster (yes, krazymagic, I mean you) compiled the undocumented patch changes for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures and released it to the general gaming community.

We may be seeing the start of a new trend in console gaming: MMOs. Studios such as NCsoft and Blueside have already announced their intention of releasing console games in that genre, and now Codemasters is ready to get right down and dirty in the ring.

The June 16 patch for Funcom's Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is now up and running, much to the delight of many subscribers. Like most patches for MMORPGs, there are a number of undocumented changes that were also applied to the game.

Magic in the land of Hyboria is a reflection of that world - and not something to be taken lightly. Like the power of mundane technology, the power of the ancient gods, if not handled skillfully, can turn upon those who presume to wield it (insert diabolical laughter here)...

A couple of days ago during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2007, it was reported that Funcom is working on a yet another Xbox 360-PC MMO project. Immediately, speculations regarding Dreamfall: Chapters ran rampant, especially now that Funcom just received a grant from the Norwegian Film Fund for the said project.
